Altonale Liberty Day

Altonale Festival returns from 17th – 30th June in 2022 and features an incredibly special day for the celebration of art, culture, freedom and democracy. Liberty Day will feature a speakers corner, roaming performances, cultural exchanges, poetry, performance and public discussion.

Art irritates and inspires. It is the engine of our democracy and the basis of creativity and innovation. It can create chaos, create meaning and establish social relationships. But art and culture are currently under pressure, precisely because they express openness, diversity and freedom and can help us as a society to get into conversation. Perhaps more than ever since the founding of the Federal Republic of Germany,
we are challenged to fundamentally safeguard the freedom of art.
