Stephan Mahn

Stephan Mahn is a founding member of the theatre collective VOLL:MILCH. He is part of the SECRET DRAMATURGICAL SOCIETY, a group of professional instigators of conversations about art and the conditions of artistic production and presentation. His focus is imagining new participatory and performative frames for non-professional performers of different generations.

Stephan Mahn, freelance theatre maker and performer. From 2010 to 2017 he studied Scenic Arts (B.A.) and Staging the Arts and Media (M.A.) at the University Hildesheim. As a founding member of the theatre collective VOLL:MILCH, he understands theatre practice as the dismantling and montage of theatrical means, scenic as well as non-scenic events and social phenomena. The collective’s productions have won several awards and have been shown at the Körber Studio Junge Regie, among others.
Since 2016, VOLL:MILCH has received conceptual funding from the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture. He is a founding member of the GEHEIMEN DRAMATURGISCHE GESELLSCHAFT (SECRET DRAMATURGICAL SOCIETY), a group of professional instigators of conversations about art and the conditions of artistic production and presentation.
Another focus of his artistic work is imagining new participatory and performative frames for non-professional performers of different generations. These have been seen at the Volkstheater of the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Theater Bremen and the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar, among others.
His production “Wilhelm Tell – Versuche” at the young theatre stellwerk weimar was invited to the 28th national meeting of youth clubs at theatres and awarded the “Nah Dran! – A prize for democratic theatre” from the Bund Deutscher Amateurtheater. In spring 2020, his production “Peer Gynt” at the young theatre stellwerk weimar was nominated for the Thuringian Theatre Prize.
