Mr Shay (Akshay Sharma) is a Leicester based beat-boxer, rapper and loop pedal artist. As well as developing himself as an up and coming artist, he devotes much of his time to delivering music workshops for young people. His social enterprise, The Underground Creatives, delivers workshops ranging from, lyric writing, beat-boxing, music production and music business. The overall aim is to develop confidence, encourage expression and to increase awareness around social topics within today’s generation.

The Underground Creatives is an arts service which specialises in engaging children, young people and adults through urban music, creative writing and media workshops. They offer projects tackling social subjects such as mental health, cultural diversity and identity, working with hard to reach communities across Leicester, Leicestershire and the East Midlands.
The mobile recording studio allows people from all geographical areas to access recording equipment and to produce original music. Creative writing encourages us to express our thoughts and emotions through the power of words; workshops based on lyric writing, rap, poetry and storytelling can be delivered in many settings, resulting in showcases in front of small and large audiences. Workshops and projects can be tailored to meet the specific needs of the participants and communities involved.
