Momtaza Mehri

Momtaza Mehri is the former Young People’s Poet Laureate for London and resident columnist at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art’s Open Space. She has won various prizes and her work has been featured in Granta, Artforum, Vogue, The Guardian, Poetry America and various international newspapers.

Momtaza has researched and produced radio programmes for the BBC as well as poetry films. She has held workshops and talks at Oxford University, the ICA, the Agha Khan Centre, the Victoria & Albert Museum, Rotterdam’s Het Nieuwe Insttituut and Singapore’s National Gallery. She has also completed residences at the British Library and St. Paul’s Cathedral. She is the winner of the prestigious 2019 Manchester Writing Competition, the 2017 Outspoken Page Poetry Prize and the co-winner of the 2018 Brunel International African Poetry Prize. Her latest pamphlet, Doing the Most with the Least, was published by Goldsmiths Press.
