She works with visual mechanisms of representation that depict social realities, site-specific artistic interventions and public spaces. Existing images and found footage are her source material. Her solo practice is complemented by collective artistic and political work.

In her artistic work, Karla Krey deals conceptually and analytically with means of visual representation. How are facts, circumstances or actions represented in science and politics? The starting point for her work is large quantities of existing image and text material from print media, television and the internet. These images go through a process of collection, archiving and (intellectual) digestion.
