Erika Kum

Erika Kum is a dedicated student of Slovene studies at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana. She is an author of six books, a poet and an artist. Mostly focusing on literature, but also film, photography and visual arts, often connecting drawings with poetry.

Erika’s work mostly focuses on literature. She is an author of five young adult science fiction novels and one youth problem novel that were published between the years 2014-2018. The books were often presented to public in libraries, school and halls with interviews, talks and workshops. She engages with poetry as well.

Erika is also involved in public life with visual arts. Pencil, pen and watercolours are used most often to create imaginative works with a deeper meaning, often connecting the work with a poem. She has won prizes such as First award in German short story competition (“Bodi pisatelj”; 2018), First award in Slovene essay writing competition (Global Action Slovenia, 2020) and more.

She is a language enthusiast and is creating literature in 5+ languages. In the near future she is preparing a four part science fiction book collection and a poetry book, she is also preparing an art exhibition in her local area.
